Barbers, hairdressers and nail techs to resume operations on August 23rd; URP and CEPEP from Monday

Good news for those in the cleaning and personal services sector.

Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley on Saturday announced that workers of the Unemployment Relief Programme (URP) and the Community-Based Environmental Protection and Enhancement Programme (CEPEP) will be allowed to return to work from Monday.

During the Covid-19 media conference at the Diplomatic Centre, St Ann’s, he said: “Our cleaning and cleansing staff, URP and CEPEP, our roads and highways and byways are now becoming overgrown (and) overrun. Because they are working outdoors, it is the view that they could come out now and join the workforce and do the work that they do, maintaining strict protocols at all times.”

The PM also encouraged those in the personal services, ie:- barbers, hairdressers, nail technicians and domestic workers to get vaccinated if they haven’t already as he has earmarked August 23rd as the date for their resumption of operations.
