Officers of the Freeport Police Station, Chaguanas CID and Central Division Task Force are investigating an early morning home invasion incident, which left the suspected bandit dead.
The owner of the home at Calcutta Settlement #2, reported that at around 12 .55 a.m., he was awakened by noises on his property.
On checking, the man said he was confronted by an armed intruder dressed in dark clothing, a hoodie and mask and he immediately ran back to his bedroom.
The homeowner was followed by the suspect and was able to slam the bedroom door on the intruder’s hand, forcing the suspect’s firearm to fall to the floor.
The homeowner quickly snatched up the firearm and opened fire on the suspect.
The intruder died at the scene.
Police are now trying to determine an identify of the intruder.
