Azizulhasni Crowned Asian King of Sprint in South Korea

Azizulhasni Awang proved he is an all-time track cycling great by winning the 2020 Asian Championships (ACC) sprint title his 10th overall in South Korea today.

The Pocket Rocketman emerged gold medallist after beating Japan’s Yuta Wakimoto 2-1 in the final.

Victory was made sweeter by the 31-year-old’s comeback following a loss in the first round.

On Friday, the Dungun-born rider won silver in Keirin.

The win extended the former world champion’s record at ACC to 10 gold medals.

The 2016 Rio Olympic bronze medallist was already the competition’s most successful cyclist with his ninth gold (sprint) in Jakarta in January.

He also won the event in 2008, 2009, 2014 and 2017 on top of success in keirin in 2007, 2008 and 2015 and team sprint in 2009.
