AstraZeneca vaccines from St Vincent arrive

The batch of 4,000 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccines that were offered to T&T by the government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines have arrived.

During Saturday’s media briefing hosted by the Prime Minister, Dr Keith Rowley revealed that the vaccines are due to expire within days and that these doses will be put to use before they expire.

They are expected to be used to fulfil the second dose vaccination drive for AstraZeneca first-dose recipients, which is ongoing.

The doses arrived at the Piarco International Airport on Sunday and were handed over to Rita Toussaint, Permanent Secretary (Ag.), Ministry of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs and Ministry of Health Officials.

They were transported via the Trinidad and Tobago Air Guard’s Fixed Wing Squadron asset AG215.
