Come November 1st, commuters travelling from Arima to Port of Spain or vice versa, via taxi along the Churchill Roosevelt Highway, can expect to pay an increased fare.
The Arima-POS Highway Taxi Drivers Association has advised of the increase from $10.00 – $13.00.
This, it said, is due to vehicle maintenance cost, as well as Covid-19 restrictions, namely the 50-75 percent carrying capacity.
In a statement, the Association noted that despite the challenges faced since the start of theCovid19 pandemic, it previously took the decision to maintain it prices. However, it is no longer in a position to operate as such any further.
This coincides with the Route Two Maxi Taxi Association’s confirmed fare hike for travellers along the Priority Bus Route, which will take effect on the same date.
