Arima man charged with murder

A 26-year-old man is expected to appear virtually before an Arima Magistrate on Monday 19th July, 2021, charged with the murder of Kevon Francois which occurred on March 6th, 2021.

SHEM CHARLES, 26, of Maturita, Arima, was also charged with two counts of false imprisonment, two counts of kidnapping and one count of wounding, following advice received from Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Roger Gaspard SC, on Friday 16th July, 2021.

Francois, 29, of Valencia, was found dead with chop wounds to his back at the Heights of Guanapo, Arima, on Saturday 6th March, 2021.

A 36-year-old man was also found at the scene with wounds to his hand. He was taken to hospital for treatment.

Investigations into the incident resulted in the arrest of a suspect on July 8th 2021.

The investigation was supervised by ASP Douglas, Insp. Hosein and Insp. (Ag.)

Sylvester, and Cpl Pierre, of the Homicide Bureau of Investigations (HBI), Region 2.

Charles was charged on Saturday 17th July, 2021 by PC Barran, also of HBI Region 2.
