Arima bar owner and 9 patrons fined a total of $70,000

Nine patrons and an Arima bar owner have been issued fixed penalty notices totalling $70,000, after they were allegedly found breaching a safe zone at a bar in Arima.

The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) said on November 26, officers of the Northern Division Safe Zone Unit and an official of the Ministry of Health, received information that led them to a bar located along Hollis Avenue, Arima.

Upon arrival, the officers allegedly discovered unvaccinated persons consuming alcohol on the premises.

The TTPS said the nine patrons were fined $5,000 each for failure to comply with requirements for entry into a safe zone under the health regulations.

The owner of the bar was issued with a $25,000 fine for the failure of the owner/occupier to comply with requirements for entry into a business.

Under current public health regulations, only fully vaccinated people can consume alcohol at bar and restaurant safe zones.
