Anti-crime exercise nets assortment of ammo and camo gear – one man detained

An anti-crime exercise by the North-Eastern Division Task Force (NEDTF) this weekend, resulted in the arrest of one man and the seizure of an assortment of ammunition and camouflage gear.

Police report that on Friday 29 and Saturday 30 July 2022, officers of NEDTF conducted a comprehensive search at Sixth Avenue, Malick and unearthed an assortment of ammunition, a pair of camouflage pants and a jacket, which were hidden in a bushy parcel of land. The items were seized and taken to the station.

During the same exercise and at another location, officers had cause to search a man of Brathwaite Lane, El Socorro, who was standing along Second Street, San Juan. The search allegedly revealed 19 small packets of cocaine hidden in the man’s shoulder pouch.

The man and the substance were taken to the San Juan Police Station, where the suspect was to be charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.

Investigations are ongoing into the discoveries made in Malick.
