As our murder toll inches ever so closer to the 600 mark, two more killings have been recorded.
Reports state that a father and son were shot and killed at 3B’s Drive, Piarco Village, Piarco, which is just behind Namdevco.
The victims have been identified as 45-year-old Nigel Mootoo and his 19-year-old son Nerkyle Mootoo.
The incident occurred just before 6pm on Tuesday.
The elder Mootoo reportedly died at the scene, while his son succumbed to his injuries while being treated at hospital.
It is said that Nigel Mootoo was in a blue Nissan Wingroad with his wife and five-year-old son, while Nerkyle was driving another vehicle, a white Nissan Y11 behind his parents.
However, whilst driving home into 3B’s Drive Piarco, a heavily tinted silver-grey Tiida pulled alongside the Y11 and the occupants opened fire.
On seeing his son being shot, Nigel Mootoo exited his vehicle and was then pursued by the gunmen.
The gunmen shot at Nigel, hitting him several times.
The suspects then escaped.
Nigel’s wife and younger son were unharmed during the attack.
