Anita Haynes says Gov’t proposal to make Parliament a safe one, just a smoke screen

Opposition MP Anita Haynes believes that Government’s proposal to make the Parliament a safe zone is a smoke screen that is only being used to detract from other more important issues.

The Attorney General Faris Al Rawi has signalled Government’s intention to have its proposed Public Sector Safe Zone Law applied to the Parliament.

Al Rawi made the comment while speaking at a virtual media conference on Tuesday.

He made reference to Opposition Leader Kamla Persad Bissessar and what he described as a lack of information of how many of her MP’s in the House of Representatives are vaccinated against the Covid 19 Virus.

He questioned her position on not allowing the Parliament to be a safe zone.

Haynes told Power 102 Digital’s Newsroom on Thursday that it’s all a detraction to take attention away from the fact that they have nothing in place should there be a spike in Covid cases after the holiday season.
