Ammo found and seized in Morvant

During an exercise conducted in the North Eastern Division, (NED), officers of the North Central Division Task Force (NCDTF) found and seized 104 rounds of ammunition near Angela Trace, Morvant.

According to police, around 2:00 pm yesterday, members of the NCDTF acting on intelligence, proceeded to Angela Terrace, Morvant and trekked approximately twenty meters into a bushy area and conducted a search. During the search, officers found hidden between an old truck tyre, one grey book bag with a green metal ammunition box containing seventy-one rounds of 9mm, thirty rounds of 7.62 and three rounds of .357 ammunition.

The illegal items were secured and taken to the Arouca Police Station. PC Noriega in continuing enquiries.

Also around 4:30pm on the said day, officers received information and proceeded to upper Edna Hill, Bon Air North, Arouca and recovered a Hyundai Elantra which was reported stolen in the Trincity area earlier that day.

The exercise forms part of Operation ‘Real Steel’ an initiative designed by ACP Wayne Mystar, coordinated by Snr Supt Ramphall, spearheaded by Supt. Nowbutt, W/Asp Powder and Sgt Pamphille. It was supervised by Cpl Morang along with members of the NCDTF – East and was carried out between the hours of 1:00pm to 5:00pm.

Investigations are ongoing.
