Ameen urges authorities to take action on crime in her constituency

St Augustine MP Khadijah Ameen said several parts of her constituency have become hotbeds for crime, with an alarming increase in extortion, robberies, shootings and home invasions.

She said this has led to a wave of business closures, with some resorting to migration due to the crime situation.

Speakng during an online meeting on Tuesdy, Ameen said she believes the situation is being made worse by jurisdictional confusion between the Tunapuna and St. Joseph Police Stations.
She says when victims seek help, they are often redirected between stations, resulting in critical delays.

Ameen is urging authorities to take swift action to address this and enhance police resources and responsiveness in the affected areas.
