Ameen calls for mobile police unit at Curepe Junction after UNCHR rep robbed

St Augustine MP Khadijah Ameen has issued a call for a Police Mobile Unit to be set up at the Curepe Junction.

She made the plea following reports that a UN official and a business executive were robbed while driving through the area on Sunday night.

Reports indicate that a Nissan Tiida blocked a Hyundai Tuscon occupied by the officials and the assailants stole cell phones, cash and the SUV.

Police later found the stolen vehicle abandoned in Champs Fleurs.

In a media release, MP Ameen said Curepe is a hub where the east-west corridor meets the north-south corridor and will benefit from the presence of police on a 24-hour basis.
