A 39-year-old security guard was treated and discharged from hospital after he accidentally shot himself in the foot on Wednesday.
Reports are that the estate constable Khemraj Madhoo of Amalgamated Security Services, was on duty at the Mayaro Sporting Complex around 2:20 pm, when he was trying to adjust his holster.
However, while making the adjustment, he told police heard a loud explosion and then felt a burning sensation on his lower right leg.
The bullet exited and was found inside his socks.
He was treated at the Mayaro Hospital and discharged.
The police took possession of Madhoo’s revolver, nine rounds of .38 special ammunition, a projectile and a spent shell.
Mayaro police are investigating.
