AG’s Office To Present To Parliament Information On Attorneys Retained By The State

In due course the Office of the Attorney General and the Ministry of Legal Affairs will lay before the parliament the relevant information including the names of the attorneys who have been paid fees by the Ministry.

This is the response given by Attorney General, Reginald Armour, as he responded to a question asked by Opposition Senator, Saddam Hussein, who wanted to know the name of the Senior Counsel that will be pay $790,000 of tax payer’s money.

However, the Attorney General explained to the Standing Finance Committee on Friday he never said he could not reveal nor did he say anything to suggest that he was departing from the practise of the Ministry.

The AG said in fairness he would first wish to ask the attorney for his permission and in due course the Ministry will bring to the parliament the relevant details.

The Industrial Court is seeking to get a supplemental allocation of 7.9 million dollars.

This was made know before today’s sitting of the Standing Finance Committee.
