Ag Commissioner Gary Griffith has said that he intends to write every police officer to encourage them to become vaccinated. This after the Prime Minister DR. Keith Rowley, indicated last Saturday that 50% of officers in the TTPS are vaccinated. Ag. COP Griffith said while the TTPS vaccination levels are higher than TTDF (25%) and Prisons officers (25), it is his intention to outline the benefits to officers who ate on the frontlines during the pandemic and are more at risk.
At least 12 officers have died from covid 19, and hundreds have tested positive. Ag. COP Griffith also indicated that almost half of the country’s officers have at some time been on quarantine due to exposure to covid 19. He hopes to get the TTPS vaccination levels up to at least 75% of the members of the service.
