Adverse Weather Alert #2 – Yellow Level In Effect Until 2pm Friday

Adverse Weather Alert #2 – Yellow Level is in effect.

It started at 8am Thursday and will end on Friday at 2pm.

The Met Service in a media release said isolated thunderstorms are occurring and affecting parts of Trinidad and extended periods of showers and/or persistent rainfall are also affecting both islands presently and will persist until Friday.

It said winds can gust in excess of 55km/h in heavy showers and thunderstorms.

These thunderstorms and rainy periods have produced significant rainfall accumulations in various parts, producing localized ponding and flooding in areas so prone, causing traffic disruptions.

Electrical discharges are also likely in thunderstorms.

There continues to be significant moisture in the atmosphere and an increase of low level windspeeds is still expected.

Citizens are being advised do not wade or drive through flood waters.

Secure loose outdoor objects.
