T&T’s Covid death toll now at 83

The Ministry of Health said that one additional person has died from the Covid-19 virus.

The person is an elderly male with pre-existing medical conditions.

This brings the total number of COVID-19 related deaths to 83.

Additionally, 55 persons have tested positive for the virus.

The Ministry then provided the clinical update as of the morning of Tuesday, October 6:

Number of samples submitted to the Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA), the UWI and other local sites for testing for COVID-19- 32,619

Number of unique patient tests completed- 29,514

Number of repeated tests- 3,105

Number of samples which have tested positive at public and private facilities in Trinidad and Tobago- 4,818

Total number of active cases- 1,784

Number of deaths- 83

Number of persons discharged from public health facilities- 1,107

Number of recovered community cases- 1,844


There are 100 Covid-19 patients in the hospital:

Couva Hospital and Multi-Training Facility- 67 (5 ICU and 10 HDU)

Caura Hospital- 20

Arima General Hospital- 3 (ICU)

St Ann’s Hospital- 3

Scarborough Regional Hospital at the Fort- 7


There are 12 COVID-19 Positive Patients in Step-down / Transition Facilities:

UWI, Debe- 9

Tobago- 3
