Abdool-Richards: No evidence linking AstraZeneca vaccine to two deaths

The Ministry of Health has no evidence to suggest any relation between the AstraZeneca vaccine and the recent deaths of a 60 year old man and a Government official.

That’s the word from Acting Principal Medical Officer at the Ministry of Health, Dr Maryam Abdool-Richards.

Speaking at the Covid Media Update this morning, Dr Abdool-Richards commented on a question posed to her regarding the recent deaths of Minister of Energy Franklyn Khan and the 60 year old man who both died shortly after receiving the vaccine.

She said the only reports of adverse effects from the vaccine that the Ministry has received fall in line with the usual physical effect of getting a vaccine.

She said that persons, especially those who are high risk are still being advised to take the vaccine, however those with co-morbidities are further advised to seek medic al advice before doing so.
