A Call Is Made For Defensive Driving To Be Made Mandatory For Obtaining Driver’s License

There is a suggestion that defensive driving certification be made mandatory for obtaining a driver’s license.

It’s a consideration highlighted by Head of Brand and Communications, Phoenix Park Gas, Elsa Lara Joseph.

Mr Lara said her company requires all their employees to be certified in defensive driving and recertified every three years.

On Sunday, the United Nations World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims.

In Trinidad, Non-governmental Organisation, Arrive Alive, commemorated the day at the National Cycling Velodrome.

Speaking at the event, Sharon Inglefield, President of Arrive Alive called for fair, swift, transparent justice for road traffic victims and their families.

She also asked the Government to introduce demerit points and fines for drivers involved in road traffic incidents involving “vulnerable road users,” a term used to describe pedestrians, cyclists, and motorcyclists.
