96 persons arrested; CoP says he’ll parang every house

An Anti-crime exercise was carried out in the Central Division between 11:00pm on Saturday 2nd November, 2019 and 4:00am on Sunday 3rd November.

The operation was spearheaded by ASP. Smith, Insp. Gookool and included officers of the Criminal Investigation Department Taskforce, Crime Scene Investigations Unit, Special Operations, and the Canine Unit.
Thirty-five (35) non-nationals were arrested at the Rich Gold Hotel and five (5) grams of marijuana was discovered and seized and two persons were arrested on outstanding warrants.

Police subsequently proceeded to a bar in the Central Division where one (1) person was arrested for the possession of a weapon and one (1) for obscene language. A quantity of ecstasy pills was recovered and a quantity of nine (9) knives were recovered in total.

Several bars in the Point Fortin and Penal districts were targeted. During the exercise five (5) undocumented Venezuelan nationals were detained in Point Fortin, three (3) females and two (2) males. In Penal forty-five (45) Venezuelan nationals were detained, twenty-eight (28) females ages ranging from 21 years to 38 years and seventeen (17) males ages 18 years to 52 years. Fifteen are undocumented. The Immigration Division is at this time processing all detained immigrants.

Seven (7) locals were arrested three (3) for keeping a common gaming house for the purpose of gambling, one (1) for possession of marijuana and three (3) for robberies in the Point Fortin district.
