8-year-old shot in Moruga; warded in serious condition

Moruga police are trying to ascertain a motive behind the shooting of a house, in which an 8-year-old boy was shot in the leg on Wednesday night.

The child, Travis Floyd, who is currently in a stable but serious condition at hospital, was shot in the leg while eating cereal at his Fifth Company Village home at around 10pm on that night.

Reports are that masked gunmen entered the yard and began firing several shots at the house. One of the bullets went straight through a glass louvre window, hitting the child.

A bullet fractured his bones and punctured an artery.

The boy’s mother, Pinky and two-year-old brother, both escaped the incident unharmed.

The child has since undergone two surgeries at hospital.

Investigators recovered over ten spent shells inside the house.
