$700,000 worth of marijuana destroyed in Palo Seco

A joint anti-crime exercise in the Santa Flora district on Tuesday 26th January, 2021 resulted in the discovery of 500 marijuana trees and 200 seedlings.

Around 2pm yesterday, officers of the South-Western Division Task Force (SWDTF), the Special Intelligence Unit (SIU) and the Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force (TTDF) proceeded to Dickie Trace,Sobo Village, Palo Seco, where a search was conducted in a bushy area approximately 400 feet from the roadway. 


There, officers discovered a field with a total of 500 marijuana trees, each around fivefeet tall and 200 marijuana seedlings amounting to a street value of $700,000.

The plants were then uprooted and destroyed.


No one was arrested.

Enquiries are continuing.
