7 illegal Venezuelans captured during curfew in Moruga

Seven illegal immigrants, who attempted to evade capture, were arrested by police in Moruga last night.

During curfew hours, officers attached to the Southern Division Task Force (SDTF) were conducting an exercise when they observed a blue Serena motor vehicle along the Moruga Main Road.

The vehicle was subsequently intercepted following which several persons alighted from the vehicle and began running in several directions.

Police immediately gave chase and arrested seven Spanish speaking nationals who are believed to have entered the country illegally.

They have been sent for medical assessment and will be handed over to the Immigration Division for further processing.
Investigations into this case are ongoing.
