A 49-year-old man will think twice the next time he sees a bunch of coconuts.
Krishen Lall was ordered to pay a fine of $6500 after he was found guilty for unlawful possession of coconuts valued at $2100. He was arrested on Friday by officers in the Mayaro district after he was seen driving a white AD wagon loaded with the agricultural produce. Lall alleged that he had purchased the coconuts from farmers in the area but could not provide any evidence. He had also been under scrutiny for some time.
He was given thirty days to pay the fine or serve eight months of hard labour.
