A 65-year-old man was gunned down during a home invasion in Central Trinidad during the early hours of this morning.
The deceased has been identified as Moonan Hardeo.
Reports state that Hardeo was at his Caroni Savannah Road home with his family around 2:30am when they were awakened by an intruder.
The suspect, who was described as Afro-Trinidadian and 5 feet 6 inches tall, was armed with a gun and announced a holdup.
However, it was during that time Hardeo’s 38-year old son pounced on the intruder and a struggle ensued.
The suspect’s gun went off three times in the melee and Hardeo collapsed on the ground and died.
His son was grazed on the leg during the incident.
The gunman then fled the scene.
Police are currently investigating.
