$60,000 bail for man arrested with six outstanding warrants

A 26-year-old man of Beetham Gardens was granted $60,000 bail by a justice of the peace having been arrested on six outstanding warrants by officers of the Port of Spain City Police Station.
A TTPS report states SHAQUILLE BUCKMIRE, of Phase 3, Beetham Gardens, was granted bail by Justice of the Peace Stephan Young yesterday after six outstanding warrants were executed for the offences of driving without a drivers’ permit, resisting arrest, driving without the consent of the owner of the vehicle, escaping lawful custody, driving without a certificate of insurance and assaulting a police officer which stemmed from an incident on the 17th March, 2021.
PC’s Sabessar and Diaz along with other officers of the Port of Spain City Police Street Patrol Unit were on foot patrol along Queen Street when, in the vicinity of Charlotte Street, Pc Diaz caused a grey Hyundai Elantra to come to a stop and requested the driver’s permit and certificate of insurance from the driver.
Having failed to produce the requested documents, Buckmire was informed that he was under arrest and ordered to exit the vehicle. He then hastily opened the door, causing injury to Pc Diaz.
The officers attempted to place him under arrest, however a struggle ensued. During the said struggle, Buckmire made good his escape, having abandoned the vehicle along Queen Street.
He is expected to appear before the Port of Spain Magistrates’ Court on the 25th May, 2021.
