Pending the results of a post-mortem, police say they are treating the death of a 60-year-old man on Friday morning as an unnatural death.
Police said they had responded to a report of a sudden death and ventured to the home of the victim, Dharamraj Basdeo at #1 Retrench Settlement, Retrench Village.
On arrival, a relative and a 9-year-old boy reported to them that around 6:30am, Basdeo was in his yard when he had an altercation with a neighbour and that the older man was punched several times to his neck.
He was also choked and left gasping for breath.
The ambulance was contacted and Basdeo was rushed to the San Fernando General Hospital (SFGH) where he was pronounced dead.
The neighbor Basdeo had the altercation with, is currently in police custody.
