6 Venezuelans detained in Palo Seco

Six Venezuelans were detained by officers of the South Western Division Task Force for illegal entry into Trinidad during an anti-crime exercise on Thursday 28th January 2021.

During the exercise, officers received information regarding persons entering the country illegally and proceeded to #4 Road, Palo Seco, where they searched a forested area and detained the illegal immigrants.

The detainees, all of Margarita, Venezuela were conveyed to the Siparia Health Facility where they were medically examined and then taken to the Santa Flora and Erin Police Stations, and are due to be conveyed to the Coast Guard Base at the Heliport in Chaguaramas.

The exercise was coordinated by Snr Supt Neil Brandon-John, Supt Singh, Ag ASP Simon, supervised Sgt Crawford and included officers from the Inter Agency Task Force.
Investigations are continuing.
