6 suspects captured while fleeing robbery in Laventille

Police arrested six men following an operation in the Port of Spain Division yesterday.

Between 1:30pm and 7:15pm on 26th August 2024, officers from the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) conducted an intelligence-led anti-crime operation in John John, Laventille.

Information received indicated that several armed men were seen on the premises of a car dealership in the community.

The officers approached the location strategically and observed several men within the dealership’s compound and its immediate vicinity. As the officers drew nearer, the men fled in various directions, prompting a chase.

The team successfully apprehended five men, aged 18, 21, 23, 24, and 25, from Picton Road, Laventille, and one 33-year-old from Eastern Quarry, Laventille.

Subsequent checks with personnel from the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) determined that the men will be placed on identification parades in connection with recent reports of several social media-based robberies.

This operation was led by Snr Supt Pierre and Supt Spence, and coordinated by Ag. Insp Steele, Sgt Lucas, and Sgt Ramsamooj.
