5 Venezuelans and a Trini detained in Icacos; several items confiscated

Five Venezuelan nationals and a Trinidadian are assisting police with investigations, after they were arrested and a quantity of items were confiscated during an exercise in Icacos.

The incident took place during an intelligence-led exercise, conducted on Monday in the South Western Division, under the supervision of Snr Supt Remy, Supt Cumberbatch, ASP Nanan, ASP Mathura, Insp Prescott and supervised by ASP Mathura and included Sgt Rollocks, Sgt Harripersad and Cpl Chase and officers of the South Western Divisional Task Force.

During the exercise, officers acting on intelligence stopped a green band maxi-taxi transporting three men and three women. When the officers searched the vehicle they also discovered 16 buckets containing a white cheese, a crocus bag of sausages, a crocus bag of cocoa and a crocus bag of cassava bake. The persons were arrested and items seized.

Meanwhile, in the Southern Division, officers arrested a 30-year-old contractor for Possession of Firearm and Ammunition, during an anti-crime exercise conducted with focus on the Barrackpore and Debe Policing District. The contractor, who is not a holder of a Firearm User’s License (FUL) was caught in possession of a .380 Pistol and two rounds of .380 ammunition.
Investigation into these matters are ongoing.
