4,000 AstraZeneca shots to arrive from St Vincent soon; over 200k overall by July

Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley has advised that 4,000 doses of AstraZeneca vaccines have been procured from the Government of St Vincent and the Grenadines.

These, he said, are due to expire within a certain number of days.

According to Rowley, they will be used as 2nd doses, and will ensure that no vaccines go to waste.

During yesterday’s media briefing at the Diplomatic Centre, he also revealed that the next shipment of Sinopharm vaccines, which is expected to have some 200,000 doses, is expected in T&T early in July, while the final COVAX shipment is due in mid-July.

Dr Rowley says the first set of vaccines from the African Medical Supplies Platform may also arrive at the end of July.

He added that there may be a short lull in the roll-out of first doses in July, before new stock is received to continue administration.

Rowley said that significant progress was made regarding discussion with the United States regarding their vaccine donations and expects an update on that soon.
