4.4 earthquake shakes Trinidad’s north coast

The UWI Seismic Research Centre’s (SRC) recorded a 4.4 earthquake near Trinidad’s north coast this morning, just a day after a 3.9 magnitude earthquake struck in the same vicinity.

Today’s quake took place at 9:03am, at latitude: 10.82N, longitude: 61.40W and at a depth of 76 km.

The Seismic Research Centre’s Automatic Earthquake Location noted that the quake struck 21 km north east of Port of Spain, 24 km, north west of Arima and 63 km north of San Fernando.

This is only a preliminary result and the SRC said information may vary when new additional data are processed.
