$3Billion in supplementary funding for several government entities and ministries

In a bid to cover operational costs for 29 divisions, including ministries, the Tobago House of Assembly (THA) and other entities, government has decision to add supplementary funding to the tune of $3 billion.

The supplementary funding was discussed during a meeting of Parliament’s Standing Finance Committee comprising Government and Opposition MPs and is required to meet the respective departments’ costs for a range of operational expenses, including salaries, contracted services gratuities, legal fees, property lease/rentals and certain ministries’ payments for T&TEC and TSTT services and other issues.

The funding will be approved at Monday’s sitting of the Lower House, where the Finance Ministry will present the Mid-Year Review of the 2022 Budget.

The largest allocation will be given to the Public Utilities Ministry in the sum of $467.8 million, followed by the Social Development Ministry, which will receive $390 million.

National Security will receive an additional $206,900,000; the Ministry of Education $300,000,000; Ministry of Health $362,887,700; Ministry of Works and Transport $97,033,000 and the THA will receive $60 million.

Sixteen ministries are among the 29 entities receiving a total of $3,081,703,900.
