37 persons arrested for illegal gambling, partying during SoE restrictions

The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service has cast a wide net during its State of Emergency (SoE) exercises in the Western and Northern Division.

On October 1st, in the Arouca district, during a roadblock and SoE exercise seven persons were arrested, four for gambling and three for consuming alcohol in public.

In the St. Joseph area, 18 persons comprising of 12 women and six men were in attendance at a party contrary to the Public Health Regulations.

While in the Western Division, officers of the West End Police Station received information of illegal gambling at a house located at Covigne Road Diego Martin.

Officers visited the location and entered the house. Upon entry, the officers observed three roulette machines and a group of persons sitting around a table with money and cards on display. In another room, the officers observed a cash register that is used for the purpose of illegal whe whe.

Charges are expected to be laid in these matters.
