36-year-old man ordered to stay 500 feet away from girl, 11,

A 36-year-old man was ordered to stay 500 feet away from a 11-year-old girl after appearing before a Princes Town Magistrate today, charged with sexual penetration and sexual grooming of a child.

The accused was also ordered by Magistrate Indira Misir-Gosine to present himself every Saturday to the Princes Town Police Station as part of his bail conditions. Bail was set $150,000 with a surety.

He will reappear before the court on April 15th, 2021.

According to the girl’s account, on dates unknown between the period January and March 2019, her stepfather allegedly showed her pornography on his cellular phone when her mother was not at home.

On the last occasion, the girl told police, the man allegedly had sexual intercourse with her.

The incident was discovered by her mother who came home to see her daughter in a compromising position. When the mother enquired further from the girl, she confided in her mother about other alleged acts.

A report was subsequently made to the South-Western Division Child Protection Unit (CPU) following which the suspect was arrested and charged on March 17th with the offences by WPC John.

The investigation was headed by W/Supt Claire Guy-Alleyne with the support of Insp (Ag.) Khan.
