32-year-old shot six times, police describes attack as a “hit”

A 32-year-old Barrackpore mechanic is nursing six gunshot wounds after he was attacked in his garage on Monday.

Faraz Ali was in his garage around noon working on the engine of a vehicle when a silver Nissan Versa backed into the garage. A gunman exited the vehicle and shot at Ali hitting him in the shoulder and arm. His body was partially covered while he worked on the vehicle. Employees of Ali’s dove for cover as the gunman unleashed the bullets in the garage which is located on Rochard Douglas Road in Barrackpore. The suspect then got into the car and escaped. Ali was taken to the San Fernando General Hospital where he is still warded in a critical condition.

Police found six spent shells on the crime scene. They are continuing investigations as they believe the attack might have been a “hit” on Ali’s life.
