3 cops arrested on the way to commit a suspected robbery

Three police officers were arrested in St Margaret’s, when a plan to carry out a suspected robbery that involved the officers was discovered.

Around 10:50am Friday, while conducting enquiries along St John Road, St Margaret’s, PC Lancaster, WPC Maxwell, PC Rambhajan along with officers of the Special Operations Response Team (SORT) received information that caused them to intercept a silver Isuzu motor vehicle along the said road.

The occupants of the vehicle were three Police officers attached to the North Eastern Division .

Two of the officers were armed, one with a Sig Sauer pistol with 45 rounds of nine-millimetre ammunition, while the other was armed with a Glock 19 pistol, along with two magazines containing 41 rounds of nine-millimetre ammunition.

The three officers were detained and later taken to the various police stations in the Southern Division, where enquiries are being conducted by personnel of the Professional Standards Bureau.

Two other persons were held in another vehicle who are believed to be connected to the matter.
