A 22-year-old man was remanded into custody on Friday after appearing before a Chaguanas Magistrate charged in connection with the 2019 death of police officer Nicholas Victor which occurred in Caroni on Christmas Eve.

Hezron D’Abreau, of Valencia Main Road, Valencia, was charged with murder on November 11th by Sgt (Ag.) Henry Smith of the Homicide Bureau of Investigations (HBI) Region Three, following advice received from Director of Public Prosecutions, Roger Gaspard, SC.
D’ABREAU will reappear before the court on December 10th, 2021.

According to police reports, on the night of December 24th, 2019, a man was walking towards his parked vehicle in the parking lot of a supermarket located in Kelly Village, Caroni, when he was approached by two men. One of the men then allegedly shot and killed him. The assailants then fled the scene.

The deceased was later identified as 30-year-old Police Officer Nicholas Victor who was last attached to the Traffic and Highway Patrol Branch, Aranguez.
