TTPS condemn robbery of Minister

Deputy Commissioner of Police, ‘Intelligence and Investigations’, Suzette Martin, says the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service strongly condemns the armed robbery of Minister of Health and Member of Parliament for St Joseph, Terrence Deyalsingh.

Reports indicate Mr. Deyalsingh, 66, was sitting on a bench outside a bar along King Street, St. Joseph, around 4:55 pm, on Tuesday 17th September 2024, when he was approached by two men, one armed with a firearm. The gunman allegedly pointed the firearm at the victim’s head and announced a robbery.

The assailants relieved the victim of a gold-coloured bracelet before making their escape in a green coloured vehicle.  Martin also called on those involved in the crime to turn themselves in.

Reports say two suspects have been held in connection with the robbery involving Minister of Health Terrence Deyalsingh MP.

According to police, officers of the Inter-Agency Task Force went to St Paul Street, where they saw a blue Hyundai Elantra which they believe was involved in the robbery.

They intercepted the vehicle and two male suspects were apprehended.
