Police have detained two Venezuelan nationals for operating illegal gaming houses in the Mayaro district.
The charges against Astrid Rengifo and Jennifer Fernandez were laid by PCs Smith and Ragbir, of the Eastern Division Task Force .
They both appeared virtually before Magistrate Vandenburg Bailey at the Mayaro Magistrate’s court on Tuesday. They pleaded guilty to the charges.
Rengifo and Fernandez were each fined $600 or in default, they would serve three months hard labour.
Magistrate Bailey allowed each defendant seven days to pay their fines.
Police officers seized a total of TT$15,956 along with two gaming machines.
