2 suspected car thieves held in police roadblock

Two persons were arrested and items of interest were seized during a roadblock exercise today.

Between 1 am and 4am on 2nd August, 2024, officers of the Southern Division Task Force, Princes Town, Tableland and Ste Madeline Police Stations conducted a roving roadblock exercise in their station districts.

During the exercise, police stopped and searched a white Toyota Aqua, driven by a 27-year-old man from Upper Belle Street, Belmont, with a 24-year-old passenger from Mountain View Drive, Upper Santa Cruz.

The officers discovered two ski masks and a universal car starter inside the vehicle and further checks revealed that the driver had never been issued a Driver’s Permit.

The items were seized and both men were arrested and conveyed to the Ste Madeline Police Station and are being held in connection with reports of Larceny Motor Vehicle.
Investigations are ongoing into the above matter.
