18 arrested for breach of health regulations in Arima

18 people were detained by police in the Paytonville area of Arima. Police indicated that at approximately 11:35pm on July 31st, 2021, while on an exercise consisting of the Northern Division Task Force (NDTF), NDTF-Area East Operations Unit, NDTF Intel, Malabar Police Station, and the La Horquetta CID, with the Canine Unit and the Trinidad and Tobago Air Guard, received a report of a large gathering at Kelly Street, Peytonville, Arima.

When police arrived at the location, the team of officers found several persons fleeing the scene. 18 people were detained by the officers. The detainees ranged in ages from 20 to 46 and were primarily from the Peytonville area, of Arima with others from nearby areas.

The 18 were expected to be changed via summons under the Public Health Regulations and the State of Emergency Powers.
