17-year-old shot and wounded in Arima

Police are investigating the shooting and wounding of a 17-year-old boy in Arima last night.

Around 10.30 pm, officers of the Arima CID received a call about a shooting and wounding victim at a house at Hilltop Drive, Maturita.

Upon arriving at the scene, they found a 17-year-old boy hiding under a house with a gunshot wound to his buttocks.

The teen claimed that gunmen had taken him there and shots were later fired. He reported that he ran away and then hid under the house.

Investigators found nine spent shells and a magazine containing a live round of ammunition.
