117 more persons have tested positive for the Covid 19 virus, marking a cumulative 55,798 confirmed infections.
The virus has also claimed the lives of five more people.
This was announced in the Ministry of Health’s daily clinical update.
The victims were two elderly males, two middle-aged males and one middle-aged female. The death toll has therefore risen to 1,650.
Four of the fatalities had multiple comorbidities including high blood pressure, diabetes, kidney disease, lung disease and obesity. One individual had no comorbidities.
Besides, there have been 176 recovered community cases while 19 persons have been discharged from public health facilities. Rehabilitated patients now stand at 49,575.
At both public and private facilities, 381,372 people have been tested for the contagion.
Currently, 4,573 actively have the disease.
There are 318 hospitalised patients, 30 individuals in step-down facilities, 68 in state quarantine and 4,108 in self-isolation.
