A 14-year-old girl was among five suspects arrested by officers of the Special Investigations Unit (SIU), conducted in the Central Division on Wednesday.
Officers conducted the intelligence-led exercise between 4 am and 1 pm, on Wednesday 30th November, 2022, during which they proceeded to Edinburgh 500, where they executed a search warrant at the home of a 38-year-old female suspect.
The search resulted in officers finding one AR-15 rifle loaded with an empty magazine in the bedroom of the premises.
The female suspect who was in the house at the time of the exercise, was arrested in connection with the find.
The same party of officers then proceeded to the Cunupia district, where they conducted a search of a house, where they found a pistol loaded with a magazine containing three rounds of ammunition, two pistol magazines, a reflective vest bearing the word ‘Police’, quantities of TT and US currency, quantities of cocaine and marijuana and an assortment of ammunition.
A 47-year-old man, his 38-year-old wife, a 21-year-old female suspect and a 14-year-old girl who were in the house at the time of the search were arrested in connection with the finds.
Investigations are ongoing.
