In order to maintain the “broad and safe flexibility”, in force since last November 30th, Nicolas Maduro asked the Presidential Commission for the Control of the coronavirus (COVID-19), to put order and apply the law in the face of relaxation and violation of biosecurity measures.
“To have a happy Christmas you have to take care of yourself, here everyone knows what to do to avoid getting infected, we do everything and we must do more, more patrolling, take back the megaphone, put on the mask,” he said.
Trust the will and conscience of Venezuelan society before taking “drastic” measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus, as they are applied in other countries of the world.
He considers that the Christmas flexibility is a measure that the Venezuelan population deserved. However, he believes it is necessary to strengthen individual and collective protection measures.
That is why he asked the Executive Vice President, Delcy Rodríguez, and the Minister for Internal Relations, Justice and Peace, Carmen Meléndez, to carry out special actions to avoid crowds of people in public places and demand the use of masks.
He urged the authorities to increase the levels of surveillance and patrolling, especially in transport units and in the Caracas Metro, with the mandatory use of masks.
He proposed to the new National Assembly, which will be installed on January 5th, the creation of a special commission to investigate activities of the Venezuelan opposition.
He indicated that said commission should open an investigation into the scam and the theft of more than 1,000 million dollars granted by the United States government.
He also described the consultation promoted by the leader Juan Guaidó as a whim.
Maduro announced that a period of 14 days of radical quarantine will be established in January, although he did not specify which period. “I plan, once the holidays are over, to start 14 days of radical quarantine throughout the country.”
In a broadcast by Venezolana de Television (VTV), he indicated that the precise date of this confinement will be evaluated, in order to stop the spread of COVID-19.
“I call on Venezuela to take care of itself, it is up to you to spend a happy Christmas. Today it is published in the Gazette which establishments can work, it is my responsibility to take care of them, “he said.
He reiterated that mass vaccination will begin approximately in April, once the vaccines from China and Russia arrive in the country.
“My dream is to massify curative treatments so as not to go to the stage of gravity. The most successful and advanced vaccine is the Russian one, Sputnik V, while we begin the vaccination we continue with our treatments, ozone therapy, and miraculous goths ”, he added.
He stressed the need for the population to maintain biosecurity measures, such as social distancing and the use of masks. “The coronavirus does not go on a December vacation, it does not take rest, it is still active,” he stressed.
