Best Village community loses drummer to COVID

The Best Village community has lost one its master drummers, Larry Haywood, who was a member of the North West Laventille Cultural Movement.

Larry who was a musician and drummer at Calypso Review and other calypso tents is being remembered by the Ministry of Sport and Community Development for his continued work in the arts/entertainment industry and his hometown in Picton Road, Laventille.

“Through his group and working with the late Junior Noel and many other prolific drummers, he has made outstanding contributions in the arts, making a name for himself through the Best Village Programme, receiving many awards.”

He has accompanied many greats in calypso/soca like Singing Sandra, Karene Ashe, Ella Andell, Makeda Darrius, and many others, achieving stardom locally, regionally, and internationally.

“We extend condolences to the Best Village community, his family, friends, and the entire cultural movement,” said the Ministry of Sport and Community Development.
