12 Venezuelans intercepted in South Western Division handed over to Immigration Division

Twelve illegal Venezuelans who were intercepted by officers of the South Western Division yesterday have been handed over to the Immigration Division at the Chaguaramas Heliport.

The illegal immigrants were medically examined and are being quarantined before being deported to their homeland.

Officers of the Santa Flora Police Station, South Western Divisional Task Force, Siparia Criminal Investigations Department and members of the Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force responded to a report by the Radar Centre of a vessel conveying illegal immigrants and approaching Beach Road, Palo Seco area on Tuesday 28th July.

Upon reaching the area, the lawmen intercepted a blue Cube vehicle in which they discovered ten illegal immigrants.

SWDTF officers were then alerted to a report of another vehicle transporting illegal immigrants.

In this incident, the information led to the discovery of two additional illegal immigrants being transported along S.S Erin Road, Santa Flora.

The duo was also medically examined and taken to the Chaguaramas Heliport for processing.
