116 Persons Refused Bail Between 2019-2022, Reveals National Security Minister

One hundred and sixteen persons were refused bail between 2019 to 2022 according to Minister of National Security, Fitzgerald Hinds, as he responded to concerns from the Opposition Bench made during debate on the Bail Amendment Extension of Duration Bill, 2022 on Wednesday.

The information was provided by the Criminal Records Office within The Criminal Investigations Department of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service.

Officers from this department conduct checks into bail applications made before judges in chambers on behalf of the state.

Minister Hinds provided further information on the subject as he gave a breakdown on the figures.

Minister Hinds also put forward details with respect to the offences committed.

Minister Hinds noted however that progress has been made on improving prison conditions.
